Ion collaborated with the Ocean Conservancy to create an immersive and inspiring exhibit for their sponsorship activation at Super Bowl Live 2020.
Discovery & Design
The Ocean Conservancy needed a compelling exhibit to tell their story as the first-ever Ocean partner in Super Bowl history. Selected through a competitive process involving 12 companies, Ion’s innovative design was awarded the project. Super Bowl Live, a free-to-the-public event at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, drew record crowds in 2020. The Environmental Village, organized by the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee, showcased conservation initiatives, including the Ocean Conservancy’s partnership in the Ocean to Everglades (O2E) initiative. Ion’s design aimed to inspire visitors with an engaging and educational experience that highlighted the Conservancy’s mission to promote a healthy ocean, abundant wildlife, and thriving coastal communities.

To captivate visitors, Ion created an immersive under-the-sea experience using LEDskin motion graphics at the exhibit’s entryway. Inside, the exhibit featured large monitors and virtual reality headsets that educated visitors about the O2E initiative and the challenges facing our oceans and the Everglades. Another section highlighted the success of the #SuperCleanupChallenge, which removed over 54 tons of ocean plastic and trash from Florida’s coasts and waterways. Every element of the exhibit was carefully crafted and tested to ensure a flawless execution that met the Ocean Conservancy’s high standards.

Ion’s on-site team ensured that the exhibit performed flawlessly, creating a memorable experience for the record-breaking Super Bowl Live audience. Hundreds of visitors, including celebrities, explored the Ocean Conservancy tent, learning about their mission and initiatives.
